FAQS
1 - What style do you teach?
We teach Tang Soo Do along with some Taekwondo. Tang Soo Do and Taekwondo both originate from Korea.
Tang Soo Do is a more traditional style of the art. Our curriculum for the higher ranks incorporates basic Boxing/Kickboxing drills and basic Groundwork techniques.
2 - Are classes safe; will my child get hurt?
We understand that things sometimes happen when participating in physical activities. We have many practices put into place to minimize the chances of anyone getting hurt.
We have rules and guidelines that we go over with every student and parent to prevent them from getting hurt while they are in class.
All of our students are monitored by the instructors while they are on the mat for their class.
When teaching the students, we break down all the techniques step by step.
The equipment that the students use for training are padded and they also use protective gear when working on sparring techniques.
In the event that an injury occurs, we have a first aid kit and CPR/First Aid Certified instructors.
3 - What steps do you take to ensure student safety during this Covid period?
We do temperature checks at the door and make sure everyone uses hand sanitizer upon entering and leaving the school.
We disinfect the training mat before and after every class and disinfect every item used in class. Door handles, cubbies, chairs, and the bathroom are also wiped down with disinfectant before each class. Masks are required for both the instructors and the students.
We have small group classes with a max number of 6 students allowed.
4 - My child is shy. Karate seems pretty intense. Will this be a good fit for my child?
Yes, absolutely. We foster an environment of participation by encouraging students to speak up in class. We stress the value of looking someone in the eye and speaking with a confident voice. Also, our students often form a bond with each other and look forward to seeing their karate friends.
